Prof. Dr. Dogan Keles

Professor of Energy Economics and Head of Section, Energy Markets and Finance, Department of Technology, Management and Economics, Technical University of Denmark (DTU)

Biography

Dogan Keles is Professor and Head of Section at the Department of Technology, Management and Economics of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). His research focuses on energy markets and their design, the drivers of electricity prices, and the modelling of energy systems with large shares of variable renewable energy, including hydrogen and Power-to-X.

He studied Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Karlsruhe (today Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT), graduating in 2006, and received his doctorate in economics from KIT in 2013 (summa cum laude). In his doctoral thesis he analysed uncertainties in energy markets and developed methods to evaluate energy investments.

Before joining DTU, he headed the research group Energy Markets and Energy System Analysis at the Institute for Industrial Production (IIP) at KIT. In 2019 he was a Senior Research Fellow at Durham University. Today he leads research projects with industry and public partners, such as PtXMarkets, funded by Innovation Fund Denmark, and supervises a team of PhD students and postdocs.
