Electricity prices: drivers & forecasting

What moves wholesale power prices, why they fall or spike, and how they can be forecast and simulated.

Electricity prices are shaped by fuel and carbon prices, the feed-in of wind and solar power, demand and market rules. The research analyses these drivers, including the decline of spot prices in Europe and the occurrence of negative prices, and develops forecasting and simulation methods, from extended mean-reversion and time-series models to artificial neural networks.
